Even a joint "premium" from the state and manufacturers could not change this situation, which is hardly surprising on closer inspection. Electric cars are still much more expensive than those with conventional drive systems – even with a premium. Hardly any consumer will be taken in by the premium anyway. The manufacturers’ share of the premium was often allowed to be offset against the discount granted to the customer at the time of purchase anyway. The government’s share of 1500 (hybrid) to 2000 euros (e-cars) is too small to convince doubters of cars with electric motors. In other words: those who want one will buy it anyway, simply because they can afford it. With the sums, which e-cars cost today mostly still, the small allowance of the state could hardly play a purchase-deciding role.
Grunen party leader simone peter told the dpa: "since dieselgate and the climate agreement in paris, it’s clear that the internal combustion engine is a discontinued model. The switch to climate-friendly electromobility, powered by renewable energies, is overdue."She accused the grand coalition of torpedoing climate protection. The expansion of eco-electricity is being brachially throttled, while energy-intensive companies and the coal industry are being challenged. The motion for the grunen party conference also states that the energy turnaround in germany must not be allowed to stop halfway. After the 2017 federal election, a new renewable energy sources act (eeg) must advance climate protection. The caps on wind power, solar power and biomass had to be lifted. The coal phase-out must be completed within the next 20 years.
A fundamental renewal of transport policy and a shift of freight traffic and air traffic to the railways is necessary. The truck toll must be extended to the entire road network and to long-distance buses. Rail transport is the backbone of a modern mobility system. It is therefore a scandal that the federal government has allowed the rail infrastructure to deteriorate over the years.
